For it is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.
Let’s face it, sometimes our struggle is deeper than our failure to do what we must. Instead, often it’s about our reluctance, our lack of desire to do the right thing. We can have the ability and the opportunity, but lack the interest. On the other hand, we can have the passion and opportunity but lack the ability to deliver.
Obedience has two critical elements. One concerns our WILL–that is, our passion, desire or motivation. The other element concerns our WORK–that is our actual performance, delivery or action. Praise God that the Holy Spirit works on both dimensions of our obedience. He is capable of inspiring our will and empowering our work. He can motivate us like no one else can. He’s also able to empower us like nobody else can.
Let us allow His power to fully work within us, so that He can do exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or think (Ep 3:20). May your desire to live for God be rekindled today. May you trust and obey Him always till the Parousia. May your passion and performance be optimised for God’s glory!
