Let no one deceive you in any way, because it will not be present unless the apostasy comes first.
One of the surest signs of the Second Coming is a period of the massive abandonment of the faith by many professed Christians–called the apostasy. It’s a time of great rebellion and turning away from God by many believers.
Our Lord attributes such cooling down of the love of many to the increase in lawlessness, that is, sin or iniquity (Mat 24:12). Beloved, let us beware of the dangerous effects of sin in our lives. Sinful thoughts, words and deeds have a chilling effect upon our faith in and love for God.
That is why wise Christians do not tolerate sin in their lives. Serious believers don’t flirt with sin! Rather, they keep their faith-walk pure by paying serious attention to God’s word (Psalm 119:9). They treasure, cherish and value the word of God greatly. Do you?
Victorious Christians also prevent sin from taking over their lives by hiding God’s word in their hearts, that is, by memorising Scripture (Psalm 119:11). It’s not enough to just be acquainted with biblical truths, beloved. It’s not sufficient to merely have a head knowledge of the Bible.
Instead we must memorise and meditate upon the wisdom of God until it becomes an integral part of our deepest thoughts, desires and being. Then our love and faith will remain so fervent that we cannot fall away or backslide. Will you do that TODAY?
