1 Pet 3:15
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.

Sometimes Christians give sinners the impression that to be saved one must abandon all logic and take a leap of faith–blind faith as some call it! But that’s not the case at all. Rather, we must be prepared to explain why we believe the way we do.

I’ve even met believers who mock those who study theology. They accuse theologians of bringing philosophy into the spiritual realm. They say good Christians should be people of faith and Spirit purely.

The truth is that the Gospel actually makes sense intellectually. True, the purity of our lifestyles plays a huge part in our testimony. But often seekers have genuine questions that deserve honest answers.

That’s why every child of God must not just read the Word but study it and endeavour to be approved unto God, as a workman who rightly divides the Word of Truth (1 Tim 2:15).

Like Paul, we must be competent to prove that Jesus is the Christ (Acts 9:22). We must be equipped enough to reason and persuade enquirers concerning the kingdom of God (Ac 19:8).
