Isaiah 64:8
But now, O LORD, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand.

Why does a loving God seem to rock our world so severely, as depicted in Revelation 6:12-17? The answer has to do with ownership and purpose.

As the Maker of the heavens and the earth (Gen. 1:1), God designed it all according to His will, wisdom and purpose. If His product malfunctions, surely He has the right to rectify things, as any potter or manufacturer would do. If we take the allegiance He deserves and invest it instead in things He has made, surely it makes sense for us to relearn our lesson!

Sometimes saints and sinners alike get too big for their boots! In our pride we forget that God is the potter and we are the clay. We only exist for Him, by Him and through Him (Col. 1:16). That’s a sobering thought, and we all need it in these last days.

Have thine own way, Lord
Have thine own way
Thou art the potter
I am the clay
Mould me and make me
After thy will
While I am waiting
Yielded and still

Let’s make this our prayer today, beloved.
