Psalm 55:22
Cast your burden on the LORD,
And He shall sustain you;
He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

The context of this Psalm is David’s complaint against false friends. The psalmist is overwhelmed by the hatred, oppression and betrayal of his so-called close companions.

Then somehow in the midst of such a heartfelt lament, the Spirit of the Lord gives the psalmist a winning strategy. God instructs David to simply cast his burden upon the Lord. Complaining about issues is the natural thing to do. But casting them on Jesus is the winning strategy.

Dear friend, what is preoccupying your mind needlessly? Take it to the Lord in prayer today. Hand over every care, load and concern to the omnipotent One. He can handle anything and everything. His shoulders are broad enough for every burden, His wisdom is greater than any conundrum and His love never fails. Two great results will ensue when you do.

Firstly, the Lord will sustain you. Beloved, God can keep you going against all odds. He will uphold you with the right hand of His power (Isa 41:10). He shall renew your strength like that of an eagle (Isa 40:31). You have supernatural durability.

Secondly, when you cast your burden upon God, you shall not be moved. God simply denies every threat the right to overwhelm you. He ensures that no tempest, temptation or evil will sweep you away. You’re rooted in His love and firmly planted in His presence. No weapon fashioned against you shall prosper. Having done all, you shall stand.
