Revelation 7:4
And I heard the number of those who were sealed. One hundred and forty-four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed.

There’s no agreement among Bible scholars regarding the identity of the 144 000. Some cultic groups claim this identity exclusively for themselves. Nothing is further from the truth, beloved!

Some believe the 144,000 are ethnic Jews who come to faith in Jesus during a future tribulation. Then the second group in 7:9-17 would refer to redeemed Gentile Christians. In such a case, chapter 7 would explain what happens to both groups of God’s people during the Tribulation. Yet others believe the two sections of this chapter are two different ways of speaking about the entirety of God’s people–Jewish and Gentile believers.

What is indisputable is that it’s not everybody who shall be sealed for heaven. Although God loves everyone, He cannot admit all into His presence indiscriminately. Only genuine followers of Christ shall inherit the kingdom of heaven. How genuine are you?
