Revelation 7:16
They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat;
Years ago, a famous rock band took the airwaves by storm with the lyrics, “I can’t get no satisfaction”! I’m sure that message resonated with many then and now. For there are longings, cravings and yearnings in every human heart that no food, drink or pleasure can satiate.
Praise God that another awesome blessing the redeemed shall receive is the total eradication of all hunger, thirst and exposure. This speaks of the blessing of total fulfilment.
It is part and parcel of the Kingdom blessings our Lord avails for the faithful: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied” (Mat 5:6).
Contrast this with Jesus’ startling woes to the faithless, “Woe to you who are full now, for you shall be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep” (Luke 6:25).
Beloved, there shall be tremendous reversals of fortune in the eschaton. And we can begin to enjoy foretastes of total fulfilment now (John 10:10). Hang in there!
