Philippians 4:19
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

For some it’s ok to talk about fulfilled needs in the eschaton, in the sweet by-and-by. But for many of us, the question is what happens now? Praise God that we don’t have to wait till Kingdom Come to begin to experience God’s provision. The Shepherd of the Eschaton is the Shepherd of the Present. Because He is our Shepherd, we shall not want (Ps 23:1)! Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8).

We have the inalienable right to ask the Father for provision now, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! (Mat 7:7-11).

We also have the wisdom to plant now for future harvests. That’s the context of Phi 4:19. This promise is particularly for those who plant seeds in the Kingdom of God. After you’ve sown your seeds, and waited for the harvest to grow, you have the right to expect your bumper harvest. The devil is a liar!

May every seed you’ve sown yield a bumper harvest for you and yours in due season! May every need of yours be supplied according to God’s inexhaustible storehouse in heaven!
