Revelation 12:17
And the dragon was angry at the woman and declared war against the rest of her children—all who keep God’s commandments and maintain their testimony for Jesus.

I’ve heard good Christians wonder why they are attacked for no apparent reason. They think their innocence should exempt them from trouble.

On the contrary, the dragon (Satan) actually targets us for three reasons. Firstly, our identity is enough to Incense the enemy. The moment you became a child of God, you declared war with the kingdom of darkness. So attracting satanic resentment is just a confirmation of who we are as children of God.

Secondly our obedience is enough to enrage the devil. Whenever you pay your tithe, minister the Word, attend church or follow the Lord’s will in one way or another, you attract the fiend’s vitriol. Usually this comes through hostility from unexpected sources close to you. When that happens, don’t panic. It just goes to say that when you please the Lord, you frustrate the devil.

Thirdly, our testimony for Jesus irks the enemy deeply. When our words and our walk testify of the Lord’s grace and power, we provoke satanic ire. That’s why we must stay right under the blood of the Lamb. Let us abide in the secret place of El Elyon, under the shadow of El Shaddai, where we are perfectly safe as we live for God (Ps 91:1).
