Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.”
Our text is the fourth of the Seven Beatitudes of the book of Revelation. This particular beatitude proclaims the blessing of being invited to the Mother of all Weddings–that of the Lamb.
The Bible refers to the marriage of Christ and the Church as a great mystery (Ephesians 5:32). By mystery is meant a spiritual truth that was unknown for ages but is now revealed. That is how precious our relationship with Christ is.
Participating in this great mystery is an uncommon privilege, possible only by invitation (see Mat 22:3). Everyone who personally receives Jesus as Lord and Saviour thereby also receives an invitation to the heavenly wedding party. You cannot gatecrash this heavenly event. For starters, the venue is inaccessible except by means of the Rapture.
Note that believers are not individually the wife of Christ, but we are His wife corporately. Separately we are guests, collectively we are the Bride. So we shall enjoy the thrill of witnessing the greatest wedding event of all time and at the same time the thrill of participating in the marriage supper of the Lamb as the beneficiary. What a privilege! Are you invited?
