John 4:13-14
Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

What a promise! The choice is between temporary gratification and perpetual fulfilment. Natural things only satisfy us temporarily. Spiritual blessings fulfil us eternally.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with natural water. Just that it can only quench natural thirst. Indeed, the good things of life have their place and value, but they have their limitations. Natural stuff cannot substitute spiritual things.

Beloved, the Samaritan woman can be viewed as a portrait of someone who tried to fill her spiritual void with relationships. She looked to men for what only God could give her! She meant well, but she was mistaken.

Many people are frustrated today because they try to fill their spiritual void by means of physical stuff. Your career cannot fill the vacuum in your soul. Fame, power and money cannot plug the gap in your heart. Only God can.
