And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
We are living in a day and age where special effects from good PA systems, musical instruments and brightly coloured lights are the order of the day. Our musicians and technicians today can create whatever atmosphere we desire in our church services.
If we want lightning and thunder, they can simulate it. If our emotions need uplifting, upbeat music will do the trick. If we prefer a more solemn ambience, that too can be easily faked. Even the “shekinah” glory can be simulated by fake smoke! So, who needs the real glory of God?
As long as we are satisfied with human gimmicks, we will never know the heavenly glory. As long as we are content with our Hollywood services, we will never experience His holy presence. As long as we play church, we will never be the true Church. The Ruach of God will never hover over our lives. God forbid!
But if we are hungry and thirsty for righteousness, we shall be filled (Mat 5:6). If we draw near to God, He will draw near to us (James 4:8). Choose to worship in Spirit and truth. Say no to gimmicks!
