Acts 2:4
They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them to speak.

The early church accepted at face value that they should receive the Father’s promise–the baptism in the Holy Spirit. With childlike faith and obedience they all waited for and received this precious blessing. So must we all today.

Note that for the early church the Father’s promise was fulfilled literally. It had to. Because He who promised is faithful (Heb. 10:23). There is no question about God’s willingness to honour His promise. In fact, He doesn’t need persuasion. He only wants our faith (Heb 11:6).

Note that there was no exception, as ALL of the 120 disciples were filled with the Spirit. So should all of us today. None of us can afford to go another day unfilled. And they all spoke in tongues as the Holy Spirit enabled them. So should all of us today. None of us can afford to go another day with our lips untamed. Say no to exceptions and excuses!
