Romans 8:26-27
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

It is one thing to pray according to how we feel, think or wish. But it is quite another to pray correctly. Praying as we ought is a different matter altogether!

Beloved, some things we pray for are irrelevant. Sometimes we just pray amiss (James 4:3). Sometimes we address the fruit of the issue rather than the root thereof. Often we focus on the effect rather than the cause. So the problem is not solved, things don’t change and we are frustrated.

However, the Holy Spirit overcomes our weaknesses in prayer. He does so by interceding for us. His prayers through and for us are accurate because He knows our hearts and the mind of God. The Spirit is able to match our desires with God’s will. He perfectly links our needs with God’s supply.

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of him” (1 Jo 5:14-15). The Holy Spirit is expert in this! Let us fully rely on Him.
