1 Corinthians 12:4
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit.

Another awesome benefit of being filled with the Holy Spirit is reception of
spiritual gifts. These are special abilities God freely gives to believers in order to enable us to fulfil His work in His power and will.

By definition, these special abilities (charismata) are gifts of grace. Their being “gifts” means they are not deserved. They are purely a product of God’s favour. It’s not about qualifying for them, brethren. It’s all about the Lord’s generosity. All we have to do is to desire, receive and use them (1 Cor. 14:1). Will you?

Since these special abilities are free gifts, we must not boast about the impact our lives and ministries have in the church or world. We have no right to claim credit for that which God freely enables us to do.

Beloved, the Holy Spirit is in the business of distributing various gifts, ministries and energies we all need in order to accomplish the work of God in our world (vv4-7). There is no shortage of spiritual gifts in God’s “warehouse”. Therefore, no child of God is not gifted! And there is no need to envy or imitate others in their gifts. Let us fully discover and employ all our gifts for the glory of God and edification of the church.
