1 Peter 2:24
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

Today we briefly reflect on the incredible power of the Cross and the finished work of Calvary. Indeed, the  wisest decision we can make today is to renew our dependence upon the power of the blood of the Lamb. Many Christians do not radiate gratitude as they should because they have an insufficient appreciation of the significance of the Cross.

Beloved, at the Cross Jesus decisively solved the Sin Problem that plagues the whole world, all humanity and the universe, since the fall of man. Sin is transgressing God’s laws. Just as breaking the laws of the land makes you liable to prosecution, breaking God’s laws makes us liable to divine judgment.

We are all liable because we are residents of God’s world, governed by His moral code, which we have repeatedly violated and rebelled against. All of us, young and old, have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23). Our hearts are deceitful and desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9).

This has nothing to do with being “nice” or religious. Many of us are “nice” sinners, educated sinners, polite sinners, civilised sinners and even religious sinners! But we all deserve the judgment of God. We are all guilty as charged. Nothing but the blood of Jesus will cleanse us from the unrighteousness that fills our hearts. Praise God for the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29)! Pastor Josh
