Proverbs 3:9-10
Honour the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.

Here is wisdom from above regarding our financial stewardship. Here is an awesome promise of supernatural abundance. First observe that God has nothing against wealth. His word here does not denounce prosperity. After all, who is wealthier than Yahweh? He only demands that we honour Him with our substance. He wants us to relate with our assets in a way that guarantees His continued blessing and our spiritual survival.

It follows from our text that it’s quite possible for us to dishonour the Lord with our wealth, God forbid! How do we dishonour God with our money? One way is to love money rather than God. In fact, the Bible says the love of money is the root of all evil and an inordinate desire to amass wealth will ensnare us and derail our faith (1 Tim 6:10).

Poignantly, Jesus says, “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money” (Mat 6:24).

Beloved, our resources must never be our bosses! Let only God be your Master. There is no way Money can become our master when we use it as a tool to add value to our loved ones, help the needy and support the Gospel. Let us choose to always honour the Lord with our wealth.
