2 Corinthians 8:1-2
And now, brothers and sisters, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches. In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity.

The Macedonian saints here model an amazing level of generosity. Observe firstly that Paul acknowledges that their generosity was a function of grace. It is God’s grace which enabled them to be so generous against all odds. May the same anointing be upon you!

Scripture here states categorically that the Macedonians exhibited uncommon generosity in the MIDST of a very severe trial, in spite of their affliction. In the same way, believers who wait until all is well will never know the joy of partnering with God. Challenges around us must never be an excuse for not honouring God with our substance.

Observe also that the Macedonians gave joyfully in spite of their extreme poverty. Beloved, generosity has nothing to do with having much and more to spare. It’s not about donating your “change”, leftovers or crumbs to the needy. We give because we want to and because we care. We sacrifice the little we have because we believe in the cause to which we subscribe.

Consider also the wisdom of God from Proverbs 11:24-25, “Those who give generously receive more, but those who are stingy with what is appropriate will grow needy. Generous persons will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” Let that be your portion!
