Hebrews 7:22
This makes Jesus the guarantor of a better covenant.

First, let us rejoice that we are in a covenantal relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Among other things, that means our walk with Christ is governed by a legal, solemn and binding agreement. There are definite terms and conditions that prescribe our relationship. There are rights, privileges, promises, provisions, benefits as well as responsibilities that emanate from this covenant. Therefore, our place in the kingdom of God is not random and unpredictable.

Second, let us rejoice that this better covenant has a faithful Guarantor, Jesus Christ. A guarantor or surety is someone who becomes responsible for another in the event that the other fails. In our context, Christ is the surety of the better covenant, in whom we have the assurance that all its provisions will be fully and faithfully carried out, having sealed the covenant in His own blood.

That also means our salvation is not hanging in the balance! Our High Priest is personally responsible for ensuring that we reach our eternal destination. He enforces our covenantal provisions. Now wonder the Bible states further, “Consequently, He is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them” (Hebrews 7:25). Hallelujah!
