Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
As we look back at the Cross, we have every reason to glory in it (Gal 6:14). At the top is that it is definite proof that God loves us. Jesus’ finished work on the Cross speaks volumes. It’s an unmistakable statement of God’s love for each of us.
My dear friend, when the chips are down and you wonder whether God really loves you, look to the Cross. When your troubles leave you feeling abandoned, confused and forgotten, look to the Cross. When the devil whispers despair into your weary heart, look to the Cross.
Oh, the depth of God’s love for us! That the Father did not withhold His only Son is testimony par excellence that He loves you (John 3:16). If in your lifetime you never hear the Father’s reassuring voice, it’s enough that He declared His love for you on that old rugged Cross. Never doubt God’s love for you no matter what! Before you ask, seek or knock on heaven’s door, remember how much God loves you.
The reason why many believers’ faith is weak is their poor awareness of God’s love for them. Faith works through love (Gal 5:6). Perfect love casts out fear (1John 4:18). Fear is the negator of faith. Therefore, when love fills our hearts, fear goes and our faith works without fear’s polluting effect. Let that be your portion today. Because Jesus died for you on Calvary, know He loves you so, beyond a shadow of doubt!
