John 2:18-19, 21-22
So the Jews answered and said to Him, “What sign do You show to us, since You do these things?” Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”… But He was speaking of the temple of His body. Therefore, when He had risen from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this to them; and they believed the Scripture and the word which Jesus had said.

After His Jewish detractors questioned Jesus’ authority and asked for a sign confirming His messiahship, He pointed to His resurrection in advance. As far as Jesus was concerned, the surest proof of His qualification as Mediator of the New Covenant is the fact that He rose from the dead after three days.

Beloved, our generation, like first century Jews, is quite fascinated by signs and wonders. However, the one sign Jesus emphasised above all else was His resurrection.

This is the sign of all signs! This is the miracle par excellence, the wonder of all wonders and the mother of all signs. Jesus’ resurrection is the linchpin of all marvels, the hallmark of true faith and the emblem of authentic ministry. This sign trumps all others because it is inimitable.

When we truly embrace it, everything else falls into place. Other signs will inevitably follow when we deeply know this primary sign (see Mark 16:17-18). All our needs are met, all fear is gone and all foes overcome when we truly know that He lives. Will you make it your goal to know Him and the power of His resurrection more and more (Phi 3:10)?
