1 Corinthians 15:20-22
But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.

In the Hebrew Bible, the concept of first-fruits as used in this context referred to the first and best part of the harvest, which God designated for Himself and His priests (see Lev 23:10). Paul uses this metaphor to present Christ’s resurrection as an example of the greatness of the future resurrection of believers.

Unlike others who experienced temporary resurrection, Jesus was the first who absolutely conquered death and is the guarantee that we shall do so as well, hallelujah! His resurrection spells ours: “If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you” (Rom 8:11).

However, this resurrection power is not restricted to the future only. Rather, it has application for us today. We can enjoy supernatural victory even now while we live in a natural body. Now let us join the great hymn writer Charles Wesley, as we boldly declare:
Soar we now where Christ hath led
Following our exalted Head
Made like Him, like Him we rise
Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Hallelujah!
