Matthew 18:19-20
‘Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.’

Previously, we learned that belonging to a close knit spiritual community, such as a Life Group or any Small Group Ministry is valuable because of the principles of accountability and intimacy. Today we note that it’s an opportunity to experience the awesome Power of Agreement.

It is true that as individual believers we can accomplish great exploits. But there’s a compound effect our prayers will have when we agree together with others of like-precious faith, which is not possible singlehandedly. The impact of our prayers is multiplied, amplified and supersize when we pray in agreement.

In our text, the Lord expressly points out the unlimited power of agreeing on earth with matching results in heaven. For instance, when Paul and Silas agreed to worship the Lord together in prison at midnight, the turnaround was immediate, as their chains came loose and prisoners and jailers were saved (Acts 16:25-33). When the saints prayed in one accord in Mary’s house, their breakthrough overtook their petitions, as Peter was speedily released from prison (Acts 12:5-17).

May that be your portion as you prayerfully agree with fellow believers over any tight situation you may find yourself in! Take full advantage of the opportunities the Lord avails for you to boost the impact of your prayers. Don’t suffer alone. Don’t strive on your own. Collaborate. Synergise. Connect. You’ll achieve infinitely more.
