Romans 14:17
For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Many earthly kingdoms are identifiable by means of their pomp and ceremony. The superpowers of our day are known for their military might. Some powerful nations are known by their financial muscle and economic affluence. But the Kingdom of God is characterised by righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, among other traits (Rom 14:17).

Beloved, the Kingdom of God and His righteousness (Mat 6:33) cannot be separated. This business of having faith without righteousness and religion without right standing with God is unbiblical. So when we invite the Kingdom of God to come, we are inviting the righteous will of God to prevail among us. We are invoking the justice of God in our lives, families and world.

It doesn’t take rocket science for us to recognise everything so wrong with our world. The injustice, wickedness and corruption rampant in our hearts, families, societies and churches are astronomical. The abuse, oppression, prejudice and inequalities in our world have grown to graphic proportions. And none of our human institutions have the answer.

Unless we allow the righteous reign, wisdom and grace of Christ in our hearts and lives, we are done for. Let the righteousness of God reign within and among us. Let God’s Kingdom righteousness fill our homes, schools, work, governments and colleges. Let the light, love and life of God shine forth in and through you brightly.
