So Pharaoh said, “I will let you go, that you may sacrifice to the Lord your God in the wilderness; only you shall not go very far away. Intercede for me.”
When Pharoah could not totally stop the children of Israel from serving God, he tried another tactic. He suggested that Moses and company could go but not very far away. That’s still Satan’s tactic today!
Many believers’ walk in Christ is under satanic limitation. Their spirituality is governed by worldly boundaries. The devil and the world determine their terms of worship. For instance, some are convinced that intelligent Christians must not be “fanatical”. They are told to serve God within the bounds of reason.
But who defines these bounds? Why is it ok for you to devote yourself to other causes without reservation, but not ok to serve God unreservedly? Why is it ok to spend vast sums in casinos, parties and entertainment, but not ok to invest in the Kingdom of God?
That’s not your portion! The Lord Jesus teaches that the first and greatest commandment is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind (Matthew 22:37-38). Let nothing and nobody curtail your devotion to God. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed (John 8:36). That’s your portion!
