Daniel 2:28
But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head upon your bed, were these:

Dreams and visions are a wonderful result of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in these last days (Acts 2:17). Of course there are other invaluable manifestations of the baptism in the Spirit. But our focus here is on this visual operation of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life.

By the way, we are not claiming that every dream and vision we get is genuine. Remember that for every genuine spiritual gift, there will always be a counterfeit (fake) one. Believers in these last days must not be naive or gullible! That is why we always need the Spirit of truth to help us distinguish truth from lies (see 1 John 4:6).

Now, as we saw previously, it is one thing to dream a dream or see a vision and quite another to know the point of such a revelation. If we assume that we know what our dreams mean we are bound to fall into error. Our text today teaches us that the Source of the vision must also be the Source of the interpretation.

Just as the disciples relied on Jesus to unpack the meaning of the parables He told them, so should we depend on the Paraclete today. Let us emulate Daniel’s example of trusting God for the interpretation of our and others’ dreams and visions. Let us not put our trust in psychologists, diviners and “prophets”. Let us not lean on our own understanding either.

Whenever you dream a worthy dream or see a valid vision, intentionally ask the Paraclete for the interpretation. In fact, trust Him to interpret all of your life and reality for you. Whatever you are going through, let the Spirit of truth lead you into ALL truth.
