HEBREWS 2:2-4
For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard, while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.

THERE IS a mistaken notion that under grace in the New Covenant, God’s standards have been lightened somewhat. Some Christians think they are now free to live as they please, with no boundaries, holy fear or obligations-and still go to heaven “by grace”. Many think they can flout God’s laws with impunity. In fact, some seem to suppose that not being under the law means being lawless!

On the contrary, that is NOT the message of the New Testament. Just as disobedience in the old covenant had inevitable consequences, so it does in the new covenant. Living under grace does not give us a licence to sin! Walking by faith does not exempt us from good works. Being “friends of God” does not do away with reverence.

We must still live right. We must still walk in love. We must still obey the word of God in its entirety. We must still fear the Lord. In fact, New Covenant standards are higher than the old ones, not less. So you cannot use the concept of grace to avoid obedience or to neglect your spiritual duties.

Don’t listen to the lies of men. Don’t compromise the truth because of some human philosophy. Don’t pay attention to religionists who promote a diluted Gospel. Obey the truth without compromise this year.
