Moses’ father-in-law said to him, “What you are doing is not good. You and the people with you will certainly wear yourselves out, for the thing is too heavy for you. YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO DO IT ALONE. Exodus 18:17-18 ESV (Emphasis mine)

From our coverage the other week of the barriers people around us may pose, it’s quite easy for one to get the wrong impression. It’s true that walking in the counsel of the ungodly, standing in the way of sinners and sitting in the seat of the scornful will ruin your life.

Yet we should not dismiss all people and conclude that we don’t actually need anybody. Nothing can be further from the truth! There is no such thing as a self-made man. It’s not enough to have a Dream; you must also have a Team. No matter how smart, anointed or intelligent you are, you still need certain people to help you fulfil your God-given earthly assignment. The truth is that Together Everyone Achieves More-T. E. A. M.

Pray for the right people for your dream team. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you discern the specific people He has predestined you to partner with. Like the mightily anointed Moses, who spoke to God face to face, be humble enough to welcome the wise counsel your “Jethro” may bring to you.

Stop trying to fit in everywhere. Refuse to be a square plug in a round hole. Appreciate the people God has already put in your dream team. If you’re married, your first and best team mate is your spouse. If you’re single, trust God to connect you at the right time with your “dream-mate”-someone who will complement, support, inspire and help you to achieve your life purpose for the glory of God.
