Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!
I have noticed with dismay over the years that many Christians are quite averse to depth. Any attempt to dive deeper in the things of God is usually met with resistance or even ridicule. Many prefer to only have a broad but thin grasp of spiritual stuff. Most of us are quite happy to just scratch the surface and never scale heights or plumb the depths of faith.
Some sacrificially invest in their careers, but leave their spiritual growth to chance. Some know all about their favourite sport, the latest news and the freshest gossip, but little of the gifts of the Spirit, fruit of the Spirit or key biblical revelations. Many follow celebrities on social media but haven’t learned the value and wisdom of following their God-given shepherds. Many can recite historical war heroes, but have no clue about biblical faith heroes.
Beloveds, God desires us to be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width, length, depth and height of His love toward us and to be filled with all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:18-19). Let us go deeper, beloveds. Let us learn to plumb the depths of God’s rich wisdom and knowledge.
