We have already established that the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned (1Co 2:14). That means our natural faculties are incapable of comprehending supernatural matters.
Why is it that there are so many intelligent people all over the world who just can’t wrap their heads around the Good News of Christ? And why do so many otherwise “good” Christians still struggle in their faith? They are trying to live the supernatural life while dwelling in the realm of the natural. It doesn’t work!
Please note that the default position for all of us is the natural, fallen old nature. Without special intervention, we’ll remain prisoners of our old nature. It’s just like the law of inertia which states that an object remains in its current state (of rest or motion) unless acted upon by another force. That’s exactly how it is in the spiritual realm.
The default mode for all of us is living in the natural. Living supernaturally takes intentional choice. Let’s do that today and this year. Let’s intentionally choose to obey the voice of the Holy Spirit everyday. Then it’ll be impossible for us to live in the flesh and in sin. The supernatural becomes the norm. Hallelujah!
