So he told her everything. “No razor has ever been used on my head,” he said, “because I have been a Nazirite dedicated to God from my mother’s womb. If my head were shaved, my strength would leave me, and I would become as weak as any other man.“
Although physically Samson looked and felt just like other men, there was something different about him. It wasn’t his six-pack. It wasn’t his education. It wasn’t his stature. Rather what made Samson stand out was the anointing of God upon his life.
Only when he was reckless with the anointing did he become like other men. Only when he began to take the anointing for granted did he become weak as other men. Only when he became familiar with his special assignment did he become vulnerable. He forgot his boundaries. He compromised his principles. He toyed with temptation. And he paid a heavy price for it.
That’s how it is for all God’s children beloveds. When we compromise our true identity we become liable to the same issues that bedevil other humans. Let me remind you today that you were called to be unlike other people. You have a special anointing upon your life (1 John 2:27).
I beseech you by the mercies of God to guard your anointing jealously. Hold fast to your faith. Maintain your integrity. Uphold your values. Value your high calling. Pastor Josh
