1 Corinthians 10:16
When we bless the cup at the Lord’s Table, aren’t we sharing in the blood of Christ? And when we break the bread, aren’t we sharing in the body of Christ? NLT

In this passage, Paul addresses the importance and implications of believers’ participation in the Lord’s Table (Holy Communion).

Firstly, he says it signifies sharing in the blood of Christ. That is a very serious thing to do, beloveds. For Scripture says the life is in the blood (Genesis 9:4; Leviticus 17:11). So the Communion wine we drink symbolises our partaking of the very life of Jesus Christ. What kind of life does Jesus have and offer? The Bible says He came to give us eternal or abundant life (John 3:16, 10:10). How wonderful it is to celebrate the LIFE we have in Jesus!

Observe also that the shedding of innocent blood is a serious matter in the sight of God. The Bible says without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins (Hebrews 9:22). Jesus Christ was the spotless Lamb of God sent to take away the sin of the world (see John 1:29). So, by participating in the Lord’s Table we’re acknowledging that He died for us, took our sins away and that our old nature died with Him (Galatians 2:20).

Praise God for the wonderful new life we have in Jesus. Embrace the divine nature Christ infuses into us through His precious blood. Praise Him for the forgiveness of sin. Praise Him for healing by His stripes. Hallelujah!
