PREAMBLE: The Scriptures are replete with maxims that seem to be self-contradictory. These holy paradoxes pertain to the wise “foolishness” of God. To be victorious Christians, we must accept, believe and understand this wisdom that surpasses all our natural understanding. Consider the following:

1. THE FOOLISHNESS THAT IS GREATER OUR WISDOM
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men 1 Cor. 1:25a

2. GOD’S “WEAKNESS” IS GREATER THAN OUR STRENGTH
…and the weakness of God is stronger than men 1 Cor 1:25b

3. WHEN WE’RE WEAK THEN ARE WE STRONG
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. 2 Cor. 12:10

4. THE WAY UP IS DOWN
And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. Mat 23:12

5. TO KEEP YOUR LIFE, LOSE IT
He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. John 12:25

6. TO DIE IN CHRIST IS GAIN
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Phil 1:21
Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.” Rev 14:13

7. LOVE YOUR ENEMIES
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. Mat 5:44

8. GIVE TO GAIN
There is that scatters and yet increases, and there is that withholds more than is meet, but it tends to poverty. Pro 11:24

9. LOOK AT THE INVISIBLE
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Cor. 4:18
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

10. OVERCOME EVIL WITH GOOD
Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. Rom 12:21
Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. Luke 6:28
