“To comfort all who mourn” (Isaiah 61:2c).

Have you noticed how hollow our attempts to comfort our loved ones can sound? More often than not, our words sound irrelevant and ineffective and we feel helpless. Yet our Lord promised that He would not leave us comfortless (John 14:18). He is the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, whose personal consolation also turns us into comforters of others (2 Cor. 1:3-4). He knows every lonely heartache and sees every tear. He loves to tenderly wipe away all tears (Rev 7:17). “Oh spread the tidings round, Wherever man is found… The Comforter has come!”
