“And said to him, If you are the Son of God, cast yourself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge over you and in their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone” (Mat 4:6).
When Satan saw that Jesus could not be tricked by only appealing to His Rights as God’s Son, he appealed to our Saviour’s Religion. The tempter tried to seduce Jesus by quoting Scripture quite accurately. Beloved, the devil wears a very religious cloak! Most of us can’t recognise the fiend because we seek him only in the obvious places. We think diabolic shenanigans are confined to pubs, clubs and brothels but the devil actually masquerades as an angel of light (2 Cor. 11:14). Quoting correct verses does not necessarily mean that the message or the messenger is genuine. Beware of religious demons! Ask the Holy Spirit to help you to see through and resist every form of demonic deception dressed up in Bible-speak.
