“But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all men. He did not need man’s testimony about man, for he knew what was in a man” (John 2:24-25).

In today’s story, our Master has just performed such amazing miracles that many people are genuinely convinced and believe. But Jesus is not impressed! He doesn’t entrust or commit Himself to them. He understood human nature so much that He knew their limits. He knew how gullible and capricious common folk can be. His relentless devotion to His mission was driven by a clear grasp of Who had sent Him. It had nothing to do with popularity or fame. Let’s learn from the best, beloved! Champions do not bank on applause. They don’t serve God with people’s approval in mind. Likewise, don’t play to the gallery. Do your utmost to bring glory to your Heavenly Father without regard to human attention, acclamation or appreciation. People’s cheers can easily turn to jeers. Their recognition can easily become rejection. Their support can easily become sabotage. But Jesus never fails. He’s not unjust to overlook your labour of love and work of faith (see Hebrews 6:10). Serve Him like never before. So will I!
