“Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?” (Rom 6:3).

The word translated baptise literally means to immerse or dip under, just like the way fabric can be immersed into a liquid dye. When the fabric emerges from the liquid medium, it has the colour of the dye. Likewise, every born again Christian was immersed into Someone (Jesus), not just something (water). That means each of us emerged from that experience covered with Christ all over. It’s one thing to grasp that Christ came into your life when you were saved (Rev 3:20). It’s quite another to understand that you entered into Christ (Rom 6:3). Interestingly, the latter is the dominant biblical concept of salvation. It’s more about you being in Christ, than about Him being in you. Grasping this revelation makes a huge difference in our lives. While the latter implies that Jesus is hidden within me, the former implies that my life is hidden in Christ. That means I can’t be an “undercover” Christian any more, like many of us are! That means it’s the presence and power of Christ that confronts and conquers the world, satan and all, not me! Oh, what impact, authority and blessing we’ll have when we learn to fully function within the Risen Christ!
