“And now, behold, the LORD has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years, ever since the LORD spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old” (Josh 14:10).

Believers today would do well to have a Calebite mentality. Firstly, he never loses track of his status as an heir of the promised real estate, in spite of the 45-year delay. The long delay does not dampen his desire or awareness. Likewise, we must be conscious of our awesome status as joint heirs with Christ (Rom 8:17). We must also value our divine heritage.

Secondly, Caleb is aware that it is Yahweh who preserves him in great shape into his eighties. He does not take his longevity for granted. Neither should we. You’re alive and well today for a purpose. Many things could have taken you out: lack, sickness, accidents, natural disasters and toxins. But Yahweh has preserved and protected you on purpose and for a purpose. Take full advantage of it for the glory of God.
