“So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them” (Ac 4:24).

Literally speaking, we have symphony when several voices are in harmony. When several sounds occur at the same time inharmoniously, they become a cacophony. By definition, that’s ugly!

Sadly, too many believing families, groups and churches are used to discordant function. While they may have genuine passion, great ideas and earnest prayers, yet their voices are not in harmony. Everybody plays his or her own tune. There’s competition rather than cooperation. There’s discordance rather than consonance.

“Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment” (1 Cor. 1:10). Such balance spells great health in the church. And it brings glory to God.
