Revelation 3:7
And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, These things says He who is holy, He who is true, He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens.
Jesus’ personal character in this epistle is summed up in two related traits–holy and true. “Holy” denotes sacred, separate, divine and pure. “True” denotes genuine, legitimate, rightful and accurate. In the context of the prevalence of false saviours, apostles, teachers and prophets, Jesus’ depiction is reassuring. May your encounter with the holy and true Redeemer overcome every satanic lie, pretence, wiles, hypocrisy and deception threatening your life!
