Revelation 4:5b
Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

As we have already seen in the first chapter, these lamps of fire are not the same as the golden lampstands (see Rev 1:4). The latter are defined as the seven churches, while the former are defined as the seven Spirits of God. The seven lamps of fire represent the perfection and plenitude of the Holy Spirit at the Throne of grace. Praise God that our Redeemer is also the the One who baptises us with the Holy Spirit and with fire (Matthew 3:11). Beloved, we must not settle for a counterfeit Holy Spirit! True Spirit-baptism necessarily includes FIRE. There’s no shortage of light, power, wisdom and glory at the Throne of grace. As we regularly draw near to that precious Throne (Hebrews 4:16), let us obtain mercy for every challenge as well as fire. It’s illegal for devotional Christians to be fireless. Faithful Christians are fiery by nature! How can our lives lack the energy, vim, zest, light and love of the Spirit when we continually draw near to the Source? God forbid!
