Revelation 4:11
Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they exist and were created.

In academic circles plagiarism–the act of using another person’s words or ideas without giving credit to that person–is a serious offence. How true this is in a spiritual sense! Our society today is guilty of spiritual plagiarism. Why do we give credit to random chance, the so-called Big Bang and evolution that which Yahweh personally created ex nihilo?

In sports, no scorer is happy for his goal to be awarded to someone else. In the creative arts, no artiste is happy for her royalties to be paid to someone else. What then makes us think the Creator of the universe and life is happy when we deny Him recognition for His handiwork?

Heavenly worship, beloved, recognises God’s handiwork throughout the universe. Likewise, our earthly worship must necessarily acknowledge God’s creative work. Genuine science should lead us to worship God more, not less! As we discover the intricacies of organic and inorganic nature, space and time and so forth, we should be more awestruck by Yahweh’s skill, not less!

Here are a couple of biblical witnesses: “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.” (Ps 19:1). “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.” (Romans 1:20).

Let us ascribe the glory due to our Lord and God for His amazing creation. Let us acknowledge the Source and Author of all forms of life, natural laws and obvious order in the universe. He is worthy!
