2 Chronicles 7:14
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, THEN I WILL HEAR FROM HEAVEN, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
Believers’ prayers come in varying ranges, where a range is the distance between one’s prayer-weapon and its target. The effectiveness of our prayers should not be taken for granted, beloved.
Some prayers hardly go anywhere! They are only impressive on earth. Only fellow humans hear such prayers. These are hypocritical or social prayers (Mat 6:5). The only reward such prayers have is the attention and applause of men. That shall not be your portion!
Another group of prayers is the kind that only soothe our consciences. When we go through the motions, we feel that we’ve done our duty. We feel ‘spiritual’ and relieved. The only reward such prayers have is our emotional well-being. Call them ritual or emotional prayers, if you would.
Then their are prayers that rise to the Throne of Grace in Heaven. These grab the Heavenly Father’s attention. They stir heaven’s angels into action on our behalf. Such prayers have personal and collective results. They have local and global impact. They have comprehensive effects. Call them heavenly prayers, if you would.
Heaven-reaching prayers demand humility, divine intimacy and genuine repentance. Away with social prayers, ritual prayers and all low-range prayers! How far will your prayers reach today?
