Haggai 1:2-4
2 “Thus says the LORD of hosts: These people say the time has not yet come to rebuild the house of the LORD.” 3 Then the word of the LORD came by the hand of Haggai the prophet, 4 “Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, while this house lies in ruins?”

It’s very easy for us to postpone Kingdom projects, while we prioritise our own personal and family goals. It’s possible for us to defer Gospel programmes as we hasten to our earthly pursuits. It’s a light matter for us to treasure our homes and neglect God’s house. God forbid!

Beloved, it’s wrong for us to cherish our earthly ambitions and neglect the heavenly vision. It’s wrong to be organised in our careers but chaotic in our churches. It’s foolish for us to gain the whole world and forfeit our own souls (Mat 16:26).

It’s wrong for our stadiums to be full while our temples are empty. It’s unwise for Christians to support temporal causes but shun eternal causes. It’s unjust to enjoy long hours of entertainment but only endure minimal time with God.

Let us seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Let us make God our top priority. Let us restore Christ to the centre of our lives where He belongs. In our budgets, plans and pursuits, let us put God first.
