Romans 12:2
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
In order for us to be credible witnesses for Christ, we must be transformed. In order to be transformed, our minds must be renewed. For our minds to be renewed, we need the water of the Word (Ep 5:26, John 15:3; 17:17).
When we read, hear, study, meditate upon and memorise the Word of God with the help of the Holy Spirit, our minds are renewed. We begin to think godly thoughts. God’s wisdom then reshapes our thoughts, attitudes, ideas, words, emotions and actions. In spite of ourselves, we will behave as followers of Christ.
Therefore, when we neglect the Word we delay the renewal of our minds. As long as our minds are not renewed, our conduct will contradict our convictions and our walk will contradict our words. Our identity as God’s children and our influence for Christ will clash. There will be a discord between our faith and our fruits. Our witness is ambiguous. Our testimony is not credible. May the Lord help us!
