Revelation 11:15
Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.”

We know that the second petition in the Lord’s Prayer says, “Thy kingdom come” (Luke 11:10). Closely related to it is the third petition, “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”. The desire to see the dominion and will of God manifesting on earth has been the heart-cry of informed believers for generations.

It’s true that in a sense the kingdom of God is here now through the operation of the Holy Spirit (Mat 12:28). It’s true that every individual who is born again immediately enters the kingdom of God (John 3:5).

However, our text today bears witness to the fact that the fullness of the kingdom of God in the world is yet to come. Likewise Paul says the prince of darkness is currently calling the shots as the “god of this world” (2 Cor. 4:4). Satan’s evil agenda is plain for all to see in the sin, violence, corruption, disease, abuse, suffering and terror in our societies the world over.

Praise God for the day is coming when Jesus shall reign uncontested! There shall be no more war. “Violence shall no longer be heard in your land, neither wasting nor destruction within your borders; but you shall call your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise” (Isa 60:18).

The whole earth shall be full of the knowledge of Yahweh as the waters cover the sea (Isa 11:9). That’s our living hope. Thy kingdom come!
