John 4:24
God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

This principle the Lord Jesus teaches our sister sounds like common sense. But it’s amazing how uncommon it is in practice. A lot of what we call worship today just isn’t–in God’s sight!

Unless our worship matches God’s nature, it is invalid. In fact, attempting to worship the Father any other way is just a waste of time. It’s like trying to connect things that just can’t. It’s like mixing water and oil. It’s like trying to get a magnet to attract a non-ferrous substance.

Beloved, we must remember the Lord Jesus’ defining statement to Rabbi Nicodemus, “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit” (John 3:6). That means the flesh and the spirit are two entirely different realms. They are incompatible. Their wavelengths are totally different. Their frequencies are unrelated. God is not found on any other channel except the spiritual.

So merely physical, psychological or social efforts cannot connect with God. Like Paul, we must decide to “worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh” (Phi 3:3).
