Genesis 41:33-34, 36
“Now therefore, let Pharaoh select a discerning and wise man, and set him over the land of Egypt. Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, to collect one-fifth of the produce of the land of Egypt in the seven plentiful years… Then that food shall be as a reserve for the land for the seven years of famine which shall be in the land of Egypt, that the land may not perish during the famine.

Pharaoh (king of Egypt) has had a dream he can’t interpret. The dream discloses crucial facts regarding the nation’s future. Joseph receives a supernatural revelation of the dream’s meaning as well as an insight regarding how to prepare for the impending years of abundance followed by years of severe famine.

Observe that in this case the Word of Wisdom pertains to an economic problem with local, regional and global repercussions. Joseph receives a heavenly solution to a specific earthly problem. His counsel provides a sound strategic and administrative resolution of a national crisis in the realm of government.

Now, this is quite instructive beloved. It follows that the gift of the Word of Wisdom is not restricted purely to so-called “spiritual” situations. We can trust the Holy Spirit to give us insights into so-called secular matters. We can expect divine inspiration in our studies, business, finances, relationships, work, leadership, ministry, politics and all sorts of situations.

Note that both Joseph and the King realise that it is the Spirit of God that enables Joseph to respond with such profound wisdom (see Gen. 41:16, 38). Likewise, let the Holy Spirit quicken a Word that illuminates every critical step you make and every direction you take (see Ps 119:105). Pray for all those in authority in church, state and other key sectors to be led by the Holy Spirit in resolving complex local, national and global issues. May you be an anointed “Joseph” in your setting today!
