Matthew 6:21
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Jesus here teaches that there is a direct relationship between our investment and our final destination. Our choice of “bank” determines our eternal home. We will end up in the same realm in which we choose to invest. That is why you should choose your “bank” wisely.

If all you do is invest on earth, your whole passion will likewise be earthly. Worldly matters consume your heart and mind. The world crowds out spiritual matters from your life. God is pushed to the margins. The will of God becomes peripheral. The Spirit’s voice becomes rare. Earthly pleasures hold you captive. Sin and temptation are the order of the day. And you’re lost!

However, when you invest in the kingdom of God, your passions are godly. You begin to echo the heartbeat of God. Christ is central to your whole life. His will is done on earth as it is in heaven. Your steps are ordered of the Lord. His word illuminates your feet and path. Your life glorifies God. You’re heaven-bound!

Beloved, our Lord presents a stark choice here. There are no two ways about it. If you want to remain stuck on this planet when the trumpet shall sound, go ahead and bank on this world. But if you intend to dwell in Heaven’s golden mansions forever, start doing some serious Heavenly banking. Do it because you understand. Do it willingly, consistently and generously. Use every opportunity to invest in Heaven.
