John 14:16-17
And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
Our divine Helper, the Spirit of Truth, dwells in the heart and life of every true Christian. Unbelievers cannot receive the Holy Spirit (John 14:17). Therefore sinners cannot worship the Father the right way–in Spirit and Truth. So the world cannot be our benchmark for worship! Neither can the flesh define true worship.
Putting it differently, we can never worship the Father correctly if we rely on the world for inspiration. We will never know what true worship looks and feels like as long as we import worldly models into the church. The world cannot teach us how to relate with the One they don’t know. The kingdom of darkness cannot prescribe how protocols of the Kingdom of Light work!
Our emulation of the world has only opened the door for the contamination of our liturgy and worship. No wonder we gather often and the power of God doesn’t manifest as it should. Our worldly worship grieves and banishes the Holy Spirit from our midst! Much of our so-called worship today is just entertainment. Most believers today have never experienced worship in Spirit and Truth because they are satisfied with worldly standards. Lord have mercy!
Are you willing to relearn how to worship the Heavenly Father correctly? Will you let the Helper teach you afresh how to glorify Jesus? Let Him generate new songs and melodies from within your heart (Ep 5:18-19). Let the Holy Spirit enable you to pray and worship as you ought (Rom 8:26-27).
